Paying it Forward
Sandi's first-time visiting Windsor Park was quite a while before she thought seriously about moving in. She had come to visit a good friend's mom who was a resident. She was so impressed by the beautiful community, and when she walked into the main building, she "thought it was a palace!" Not long afterwards, another friend moved into a nice room in Windsor's Johnson Health Care Center. Sandi admired the care her friend received from the staff.
Sandi didn't really consider other places. At the urging of another resident, who asked her what she was waiting for, Sandi decided she liked a sunny one-bedroom apartment on the third floor. She said to herself, "If God wants me to be here, He will make it happen." Things fell into place. Even the move went well, with wonderful assistance from Honoring Aging, a company whose specialty is helping people downsize with as little angst as possible.
Already liking many aspects of Windsor Park in addition to the lovely community and the nice people she met, Sandi especially liked the fact that so many volunteers and donors support Benevolent Care. Within the first year she was asked to chair the Silent Auction Committee for the upcoming Benevolent Care Gala, to utilize her administrative skills and to make new friends. She agreed, and to this day she chairs the Raffle Committee as well as taking a more general leadership role.
To Sandi, Benevolent Care was one of the compelling reasons she chose Covenant Living at Windsor Park. It demonstrates the generous spirit within the community. Plus, you never know what lies ahead for yourself… you may find that you need Benevolent Care assistance someday.
Sandi is using Individual Retirement Account (IRA) accounts and a Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA) as convenient and effective ways to give, especially since the CGA provides an income stream while the remaining principal will support Benevolent Care when she passes away. Through the Legacy Circle, Sandi sees herself "paying it forward" by including Windsor Park in her estate plans.
