Georgina Leith aka Georgie was born and raised in Carnation, WA. After graduating high school, she worked at Frederick & Nelson and later at Boeing where she met Jim Leith, a machinist. They married on July 28, 1945. In 1948 they purchased a lot in Lake City overlooking Lake Washington and built their home in 1951 where she lived for over 60 years. For many summers, Jim worked as a machinist in the canneries of Alaska to earn extra money for the family. In the early 1970's, Georgie was introduced to Jafra Cosmetics, was a pioneer, and became the first Consultant to bring Jafra Cosmetics to Washington. Not only did her business provide a sustainable income, but it evolved into a ministry to hundreds of women needing encouragement, self-confidence, and help to get out of abusive relationships. They raised 5 children, and in her 99 years, she had 99 grand, great, and great-great-grandchildren. Jim passed away unexpectedly in 1982.
At age 86, Georgie was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease which nearly took her life. To everyone's surprise, the disease went into remission, and she lived 13 more years. In 2011, she moved to the Shores, where she was welcomed with love and support and continued to enjoy her beloved view of the lake. Over time, her dementia progressed to the point where in 2019, she moved to Reflections. Unfortunately, her resources quickly ran out, but thanks to the Benevolent Care Fund, she was able to continue to live in comfort, community, and love. Not only were her monthly service fees covered, but it also allowed her to continue to go to the beauty salon every week. She was a tiny woman with a giant heart, big laugh, and even bigger hair. Her joy and laughter were keys to her long and relatively healthy life. She was an example of what it means to be kind, generous, encouraging and loving. She loved the Lord and was not ashamed to share her love for Him. She made everyone feel special and beautiful (or handsome) as she gave out compliments and expressed appreciation for their service. Her presence made us all better versions of ourselves.
When dear Georgie passed away in 2023, her family expressed their appreciation and gratitude for the love, care, support, and peace of mind they received by donating to the Benevolent Care Fund in her memory so future residents will be blessed with the same benefits which will enable them to live a life of joy and peace of mind.
